. Matthew Ngui

Statement :
The broad concept of representation is consciously applied to the work I do. Much of the work can be viewed as little experiments set-up to interrogate meaning and how these meanings are communicated. These meanings, which may or may not be clear, lie within different cultural and socio-political spaces which shape society. I am beginning to take a keen interest in the dynamics of these contemporary forces which give character to urban spaces which in turn have already been prescribed by town-planning, architecture and history. As such, the use of contemporary media, while paying particular attention to specific sites is important in the process of making the work.
