Auction to raise funds for victims of on-going war in Afghanistan
The Children's Museum at Chatuchak Park will host a ``Peace Fair'' this Saturday and Sunday, featuring public auctions to raise funds for Afghan victims of the on-going conflict in that country. Individuals or groups are invited to set up booths to sell surplus items. On the first day, at 10am, Dr Sem Pringpuangkaew will give the opening speech, followed by an auction of items donated by social activists, writers and artists. At 2pm, Montri Sintawichai (Khru Yoon), Saowanee Jitmuad and Euayporn Khuenkaew will participate in a panel discussion on how the news coverage of war and violence affects family relationships. A "Concert for Peace", from 4 to 7pm, will wrap up the first day's programme. On the second day, at 10am, Sophon Supaphong will discuss ways to confront war with peace and faith. Contest and fair at Marriott promise fun for the whole family
The "Xmas Menu Cover Drawing Contest'' for kids will be
held December 8 under the theme "My Christmas'' at the Bangkok
Marriott Resort & Spa. Other event sponsors include the Hua
Hin Marriott Resort & Spa, HHK Intertrade, Walt Disney (Thailand),
Studio Art School, Imax Theatre, Family & Kids Studio, Ripley's
Believe It Or Not Museum and the Royal Garden Plaza. Four winners
will be selected and their work used for the cover of Christmas

The Children's Discovery Museum invites all children to join
an "Arts For Fun'' programme. The objective is to improve
children's learning skills. This year's programme follows on
from a similar event last year in which the focus was science.
Activities will include making a two-metre dinosaur model from
papier mache, decorating candles, weaving bracelets from threads

Colourful illustrations with a moral message needed for competition
Advance Agro Plc, together with Chulalongkorn and Silpakorn universities,
is inviting the public to join its illustrated story contest
called "Double A Storytelling Competition". The contest is divided into three categories: primary, secondary and undergraduate, and the general public. Entries, which must consist of an entertaining story with an appropriate moral message drawn from the imagination of the writer, must include colour illustrations. Stories can be submitted on an individual or team basis of no more than three persons, who must be of the same academic level. Stories must indicate the title and contain a moral message. Prize of the 12th Fukuoka Asian Culture Prizes 2001 Fukuoka City, Japan, has played an important role as a channel of cultural interaction across the sea between Japan and its Asian neighbors from the antiquity. This heritage led Fukuoka City to establish, in cooperation with the academic and business sectors, the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prizes in 1990 to promote the cultivation and advancement of knowledge and culture in Asia. This year commemorates its 12th anniversary.
